Hexa Energy Services Concludes Project Finance Agreement with MUFG and Société Générale for 30 MW / 130 MWh BESS in Tagawa, Fukuoka

Hexa Energy Services Signs a Financing Agreement for BESS Project
On March 31, 2025, Hexa Energy Services has concluded a project finance loan agreement with MUFG Bank Ltd. and Societe Generale, Tokyo Branch, with respect to its BESS project (Tagawa City, Fukuoka Pref., rated output: 30 MW / energy capacity: 130 MWh) operated by Honeycomb 8 LLC, and an adjacent Solar project (capacity: 2 MWdc) operated by Honeycomb 12 LLC.
With Japan seeing an increasing amount of renewable energy deployment, Hexa Energy Services is committed to its mission of contributing to the stabilization of the power supply-demand.
As such, the company is developing a number of grid-scale BESS projects in order to provide critical balancing power and contribute to the decarbonization of the power sector in Japan.
The BESS project in Tagawa City was awarded a capacity contract under the Long-Term Decarbonization Auction ("LTDA") held in FY2023.
Under the LTDA, Hexa Energy Services has won a total of 11 bids for BESS projects (total rated output: 445 MW / energy capacity: 1.9 GWh), and the company is committed to developing these projects and bringing them online to provide critical balancing power throughout Japan.
