HEXA Begins Commercial and Market Operations of Two Merchant High-Voltage BESS Facilities in Fukushima and Miyagi

Tokyo, Japan – September 7th, 2026
HEXA Energy Services G.K. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Executive Managers: Yuko Shah and Yoichiro Mizuta; “HEXA” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it took delivery of two high-voltage grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities located in Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures at the end of August in 2026 and has commenced commercial and market operations at both facilities. Market operations for the two facilities are managed through HEXA’s proprietary trading system, and both facilities are currently operating reliably. HEXA develops grid-scale battery energy storage projects with the aim of supporting the further deployment of renewable energy while enhancing power grid stability. The two facilities are part of HEXA’s initiatives under the partnership agreement for the development of grid-scale battery energy storage facilities in Japan that HEXA signed with PowerX, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Director, President & Representative Executive Officer, CEO: Masahiro Ito) in March 2025.

■CEO Comment
“We are very pleased to announce the commencement of commercial operations of high-voltage BESS facilities operating under a merchant model, following our previous announcements regarding the award, commencement of construction, and start of operations of projects under the Long-Term Decarbonization Power Source Auction, as well as the execution of a tolling agreement.
As the need for grid-scale battery energy storage continues to grow alongside the further deployment of renewable energy, HEXA has established a platform capable of developing a broad range of business models, including projects supported by policy frameworks, collaborations with corporate partners, and merchant projects in which the Company assumes market risk.
Building on this initiative, HEXA will further promote aggregation initiatives built around its proprietary system. Going forward, the Company aims to optimize aggregation across grid-scale BESS and
renewable energy assets and expand its ability to provide clean energy to customers at reasonable prices.”
■Outlook
Through the development and operation of grid-scale battery energy storage systems and power trading, HEXA aims to contribute to the further deployment of renewable energy and the stabilization of Japan’s power grid.
