Using Solar Power Plants Developed by HEXA Renewables Japan in Miyagi and Iwate
Tokyo, Japan – October 22, 2026
HEXA Energy Services G.K. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Executive Managers: Yuko Shah and Yoichiro Mizuta; “HEXA” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that The Niigata Nippo (Head Office: Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture; President and Representative Director: Akira Sato; “Niigata Nippo”) will adopt an off-site corporate power purchase agreement service (the “Service”) provided by Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (Head Office: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; President and Chief Executive Officer: Kazuhiro Ishiyama; “Tohoku Electric Power”) on November 1, 2026.
An off-site corporate PPA is a structure under which an electricity retailer purchases renewable electricity from a power producer that owns generation facilities located away from the customer’s premises and supplies the electricity to the customer through the general transmission and distribution network.
Through investments in Japan’s energy infrastructure, HEXA develops renewable energy and grid-scale battery energy storage businesses. HEXA’s group company, HEXA Renewables Japan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Chenhua Shen; “HEXA Renewables Japan”), provides electricity and environmental value tailored to the decarbonization needs of corporate customers.
Under the Service, Tohoku Electric Power, acting as the electricity retailer, will supply renewable electricity generated by two solar power plants developed by HEXA Renewables Japan in Miyagi and Iwate prefectures to Niigata Nippo’s head office building and Kurosaki printing plant, both located in Niigata City, for a period of 20 years from November 1, 2026. The Service is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 450 t-CO2 annually.
