HEXA Hosts “Workplace Discovery Tour TOKYO 2026” for Foster Families from Akita Prefecture

HEXA Energy Services G.K. (“HEXA” or the “Company”) held its first “Workplace Discovery Tour TOKYO 2026” on August 19 and 20, 2026, for foster families from Akita Prefecture. The tour was organized as part of the Mitsubachi Fellowship, HEXA’s social contribution and community engagement initiative.

The Mitsubachi Fellowship supports the education and academic advancement of children growing up in alternative care, including foster care and residential care. In addition to scholarships and learning support, the initiative provides experiential programs designed to broaden children’s perspectives.

The tour brought together seven children and five foster parents from three foster families in Akita Prefecture, along with two representatives from the Akita Foster Family Support Center TOMONY. Two members of the Mitsubachi Fellowship team also joined, bringing the group to a total of 16 people.

The program was created to give children an opportunity to see and experience a range of workplaces and fields that may not be part of their everyday lives, and to help broaden the possibilities they consider for their futures.

■Visiting Offices in Tokyo

On August 19, the group traveled by Shinkansen from Akita Station to Tokyo. Their first stop was the HEXA office, where they learned about renewable energy, global warming and the Company’s work. The children listened closely and asked questions about renewable energy.

One child commented, “I’m interested in global warming and renewable energy, so I found it very interesting!” The children’s questions and responses also gave HEXA employees an opportunity to reflect on the connection between their day-to-day work and society.

The group then visited LY Corporation, where they toured the office and observed people at work. The visit gave the children and foster parents an opportunity to learn about different types of jobs and ways of working.

■Turning New Experiences into Future Possibilities

Visiting workplaces and hearing directly from the people who work there can help children learn about society and consider a wider range of options for their futures.

The Akita Foster Family Support Center TOMONY noted that the tour may have helped the children recognize that there are worlds they have yet to discover and futures they can choose. HEXA hopes that the encounters and experiences from the two-day program will stay with the children and encourage them to consider new possibilities when thinking about their futures.
