Execution of Long-Term Offtake Agreement with Tokyo Gas for Grid-Scale Battery Energy Storage Project

HEXA Energy Services G.K. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Executive Officers: Yuko Shah and Yoichiro Mizuta; “Hexa” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a long-term offtake agreement with Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (“Tokyo Gas”) for the grid-scale battery energy storage project outlined below, which is currently under development by the Company.
Through this agreement, Hexa will be responsible for the development, ownership and maintenance of the battery energy storage facility, while Tokyo Gas will obtain long-term rights to use and operate the facility in response to power market conditions.
Amid growing uncertainty in the energy landscape and increasing volatility in power markets, grid-scale battery energy storage systems are becoming increasingly important in supporting power system stability and supply–demand balancing, and are also attracting attention as important assets in power markets.
This agreement is intended to support the stable advancement of the battery storage business and maximize the value of the battery storage asset by combining Hexa’s capabilities built through its experience in grid-scale battery storage project development and business management with Tokyo Gas’s long-term use and operation of the facility under the offtake arrangement. Hexa will continue to steadily advance grid-scale battery energy storage projects through collaboration with partner companies.
