About the Award-Winning Project

The award-winning Tagawa Battery Energy Storage Project is an approximately 30MW grid-scale battery energy storage system (“BESS”) project located in Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, and was awarded under Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonization Power Source Auction (the “LTDA”) framework. Further details on the project and the completion ceremony are available in the Company’s previous release.*2

Key Factors Recognized

The project was recognized primarily for the following features:

• It represents an innovative business model in Japan, having achieved commercial viability as a standalone grid-scale battery energy storage project while utilizing the LTDA framework.

• It contributes to the establishment of a non-recourse financing model focused on cash flows generated by a grid-scale battery energy storage business supported by the LTDA framework.

• It serves as an important precedent for the development of Japan’s battery storage market, contributing to the further expansion of renewable energy and the stabilization of the power system.
